Program Note
The dinner bell, the light on the porch, the streetlight on the end of the lane. All signs that time outside with your fiends is over and you have to go home for the night. As you trod back to your house, there is a lingering sense of the excitement, mixed with the disappointment of a playtime concluded. This rhythmic and forward moving piece utilizes big dynamic changes with driving eighth notes to give it its hurried nature. Passing the melody and accompaniment between members of the ensemble, guarantees a great time for each part. The final eighth note passage fades off into the distance to represent the last light of the sunset as you go inside for dinner. You can always play tomorrow.
