Program Note
Chickadees are a bird that becomes a social creature in the winter. They do this because they do not migrate. Instead of packing up and flying south to the warm climates of sunnier places, they congregate together, puff up their feathers, hide their food caches, and brave the winter months. This piece a reflection of a snow covered land filled with these small, persistent, round birds flocking together in their excited, desperation to strive in the harsh northland.
